Course Description

Provides an introduction to the teaching of literacy across content areas at the secondary level. Course content may include an overview of reading and writing processes, the importance of literacy in learning, New Jersey Student Learning Standards in literacy, and the role of content teachers in developing literacy skills. Students will have the opportunity to explore strategies for integrating reading and writing activities in content area classrooms and consider how literacy activities can build content knowledge.
