Course Description

In order to think broadly about diversity in schools, students are provided an introduction to understanding diverse populations of children as they relate to families, schools, and communities. Teacher candidates may investigate the intersection of education and schooling, language and culture, social class, disabilities, and values. Focusing on current, cutting edge knowledge/research in the field of education, students discuss the socio-cultural context of education in a global era and are provided an overview of understanding the diverse learners in every classroom. Emergent educational issues may also be explored.
