Course Description
Care is a relationally, socially and politically mediated practice. In the 1980s, feminist interpretations of care gave rise to a new body of literature which became known as ethics of care or care ethics. The core of care ethics is shaped by a relational practice of allotting and negotiating caring responsibilities. Students will have an opportunity to discuss critical concepts that constitute good care. Following a dialectic approach by combining reading and analysis of theoretical and philosophical texts with empirical work, concepts may include: vulnerability, precariousness, interdependence, power, and relationality.
